Frequently asked questions and answers
Not at the moment. The DRV requires that Caspar Clinic care is connected to a prior rehab stay, and onboarding to the app must occur during rehab.
A mat-sized area is enough. We mainly use everyday objects, for example, filled water bottles as dumbbells or a chair for seated exercises. Your therapist checks what you have at home and adapts your plan. As a welcome gift, depending on the program and plan, we send your first training aid, for example, a resistance band.
Digital rehab aftercare with the Caspar Clinic and the Caspar app lets you train anytime and anywhere with internet access. To secure your rehab gains long term, it is important to keep going, train regularly, and integrate new skills into daily life. Your primary therapist will tailor the plan to your capacity. Talk to them.
Most patients who use Caspar Health received a prescription from a doctor. Partner clinics often inform patients proactively when they work with Caspar Health and the Caspar Clinic and use our app. Ask before choosing a rehab clinic whether they cooperate with us and which aftercare options are available. At present, only patients whose payer is the German Pension Insurance (DRV) can do aftercare with the Caspar Clinic. Self-pay options are not currently available.
Your training plan is created just for you. The app demonstrates each exercise slowly and explains it in audio and text. You likely know many exercises from rehab. In the web view, you can enable a mirror feature that allows you to see yourself, which can help you check your form and posture. You can also record yourself and send clips to your primary therapist for feedback. You are not left alone. Your therapist monitors training and follows up if something does not fit or the load is too high or too low. If an exercise does not feel right, skip it and give feedback. You will also receive regular calls to discuss how you are doing and to clarify questions. You can reach us anytime via chat.
You can use Caspar aftercare if your rehab clinic is a Caspar partner clinic, your payer is the DRV, and you have a stable internet connection at home or on the go. See our page on requirements for aftercare with Caspar for details.
T-RENA is the abbreviation for "Trainingstherapeutische Rehabilitationsnachsorge" (training therapeutic rehabilitation aftercare). It is prescribed by your treating physician primarily if you are primarily dealing with limitations of the musculoskeletal system (e.g., a herniated disc). T-RENA is a treatment concept prescribed by the German Pension Insurance.
More on forms of aftercare
With the app, you train regardless of time or place. You receive a personal training plan aligned with your goals, helpful information for everyday life, and continuous contact with your primary therapist via chat or phone.
No. Basic skills with a computer or mobile phone are helpful. The app is easy to use, and ideally you will practice during rehab. Try it out and ask your care team right away if anything is unclear. You can also contact the Caspar Clinic team via chat or phone. We want you to work toward your personal health goals with good support, just as thousands of Caspar Clinic patients have already done.
At present, GKV does not usually cover digital aftercare with Caspar. Some partner clinics make our offering available to all patients during rehab, regardless of payer. Inquire with your insurer whether, when, and how qualified aftercare is available to you.
Patients do not bear costs themselves. For DRV patients assigned to aftercare with us, the DRV covers all usage costs. Important: this is rehab aftercare therapy tailored to specific conditions. Certain requirements must be met to become a Caspar Clinic patient and benefit from combined care. Speak with your physician or therapist, or contact your insurer. See our requirements page for more information.
IRENA stands for Intensified Rehab Aftercare. It supports your transition from rehabilitation to self-directed activity and helps you manage work and everyday life. It is prescribed by your treating physician and provided under DRV guidelines.
It is currently not possible to use Caspar Health's services as a self-payer.
We need reliable contact details to start your aftercare, ensure satisfactory therapy, and resolve your requests quickly.
You receive login data before or during rehab, for example, in an invitation letter, at admission, or from your therapy team. You can already download the app from your app store or via the QR code on our website. Log in with your personal credentials.
Use the in-app chat. You can also call +49 (0) 30 12 08 2976, Monday to Friday 8:00 to 18:00.
Rarely, a plan may not yet be visible. If you are not yet in aftercare with the Caspar Clinic, contact your clinic or therapist. If you are already in aftercare, contact your primary therapist.
Caspar is a therapeutic service. Especially with symptoms, only certain exercises in specific form and frequency are appropriate. Guidance by a therapist remains important in aftercare. Your therapist decides what content and frequency fit your condition. Share wishes with your primary therapist.
No. We advise that you follow the suggested order because it is tailored to you. For IRENA, you must reach at least 60 minutes per week for sessions to count. You can split time across days and carry over minutes from the previous week. Units under 10 minutes are not recommended.
Yes. The DRV defines a minimum of 60 minutes per week. Less than 60 minutes cannot be credited for that week. This lower limit is for exceptions only. Therapeutically, we recommend 90 minutes per week. You can carry over minutes from the previous week toward the 60-minute minimum. Units under 10 minutes are not permitted. Plan enough time for training.
Each day’s unit is set according to therapeutic needs, condition, progress, and load tolerance. The goal is to avoid over- or under-load.
In the app: log in and tap the chat icon at the bottom bar.
Log in to the browser and choose "Messages" from the menu on the left.
In “My Training,” we suggest exercises in a therapeutically recommended order that starts with a warm-up, builds intensity, and ends with a cool-down. This order is set by your primary therapist for your needs. If you would rather not do a given exercise today, skip it. If you want specific exercises, use “My Week” to pick from your plan.
Knowledge content updates weekly and is available for seven days. Please let us know via chat if you were unable to attend a seminar. Exercises depend on your progress. If something is too easy, too difficult, or a start position does not work, write to us and we will adjust. We also vary exercises weekly to keep training engaging. Your primary therapist makes the necessary changes.
In the web version, switch on the mirror view and then enable recording. The clip is sent automatically to your therapist after the exercise.
In the web version, you can activate the mirror view if your device has a camera. Start a session, then enable the mirror icon on the exercise page.
Your primary therapist adjusts your plan. Please help by telling us if you need a different intensity. Message us in chat.
A trusting relationship matters. You are accompanied by one therapist throughout aftercare. This person is your primary therapist.
Log in either in the app or via the website. Enter your credentials or the temporary login provided by your rehab clinic, and then set your password as prompted.
Yes. Please tell your primary therapist what you are doing and how often so we can adjust your plan.
Recipes are available only in the video version. Your therapist can add the relevant items to your library on request.
Yes. If you need to pause, please let us know. Please do not pause on your own. After 4 weeks without training or starting, continuing multimodal aftercare is no longer considered meaningful. If inactive longer than 6 weeks, we must end the plan per DRV rules. Contact your therapist via chat.
You can connect Apple Health (HealthKit), Garmin, Fitbit, Polar, Withings, Strava, Google Fit, and iHealth.
After leaving the clinic, digital aftercare must start within 3 months and be completed within 12 months at the latest. Getting started sooner helps you achieve better therapeutic outcomes. In practice, completing modules within about 6 months often works well. Our processes aim to start aftercare promptly and support an optimal intensity for your goals. Train regularly and integrate new skills into daily life.

You can use Caspar on a PC, tablet, or phone. We recommend up-to-date devices and systems: iOS 12 or higher, Android 6 or higher. Many Huawei phones produced after 2020 do not support Google Play; since the app is not in the Huawei Store, use a different device. For the web version, Google Chrome has proven stable. Check our advice if something is frozen. The app normally runs smoothly. We are happy to help.
Open the app. On the overview page “Today” or “My day,” tap the “Steps” tile and add your steps. If the tile is not visible, please reach out to your primary therapist.
An email address must be entered for profile changes to be saved.
We need reliable contact details to start your aftercare, ensure satisfactory therapy, and resolve your requests quickly.
